Unit Reflection #3

During this unit, we have learned about different types of genres, history of cinema, a list with some words about movies, we visited Hollywood, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros and Tyler Perry Studios websites. In this unit we learned how those websites look like and what are the differences between those websites. In this unit we realized a project where each one of us needed to go to watch a movie and give a review to the movie. I really love that project because I had never visited the International Film Festival. It was really interesting, and it was really crowded. Another way to leaner we used in this unit was to try to make a poster or trailer. The professor gave us a story where we needed to complete and make a poster. I really liked this activity because it is helping us with our pronunciation and it also makes the class more didactic. I really liked this unit because I learned more about movies and that showed me that there are so many movies from different countries. Moreover, I think that I should watch some of those movies because I will be able to learn more about their culture.

My Aha moment was when I arrived at the class and the professor gave us a magazine with a lot of movies. I immediately knew that the professor will tell us to watch one of those movies in the theater, which was really fun and didactic because it was not my language.

I did not know about Tyler Perry’s and about his movies. It was really interesting to learn about hid types of movies and the way he does movies. However, what really captured my attention was that I did not know that “around 90 percent of the audience for “Why Did I Get Married? Was African American”.
