In the 90's there were some energy drinks such as Red Bull. But after the turn of the century energy drinks became so popular that there are now several on the market such as Full Throttle, Lost Energy, Sobe, and Monster Energy.

A part of my identity.

My name is Annie chaljub, I’m from Colombia. So. Basically what you are going to find in my poster is everything about my identity and my culture. I did my poster in https://www.canva.com and you will find five smalls poster slides. In my poster I talked about literature, music, food, Colombian musicians and the Barranquilla’s carnival.

The first slide is about literature and you are going to find an important writer, he is called Gabriel Garcia Marquez, one of the best in the Spanish language.in addition you can find one of his famous books in Colombia, it’s called one hundred years of solitudes.

The second slide is about the country’s most popular dance style, which is Cumbia, which also happens to be one of the most popular music forms in all of Latin America. I added some pictures and a video where you can see how we dance cumbia in my country.

The third slide is about food, and you will see some dishes from my country, I also added some pictures.

The fourth slide is about the best four Colombian singers over the world, for example: Shakira with pop and rock music, J Balvin with reggaeton music, Juanes with pop music and Carlos vives with vallenato music. And I added a picture of each one of them.

The last slide is about Barranquilla's Carnival which is one of Colombia's most important folkloric celebrations, and one of the biggest carnivals in the world. The carnival has traditions that date back to the 19th century. This carnival is a celebration every year in my city. I added pictures and also a video where you can see how this carnival is.

Finally, you will be able to know more about my culture identity with those posters, and you will also know more about me because that’s what I like from my country.

Uni#1 My reflection

During this unit I learned about culture but it was more than just culture because I also learned how I am and what important things I have in my own culture, I learned about my cultural identity because even that was my own cultural identity I did not think about all those thing before. I also realized that we all have different culture and each culture is important.

one of the topics I really liked during this unit was culture shock because I also went through it when I arrived in this country, because it is not the same culture as my culture, and you can get confused. I learned by all activities we did in this class, for example all the documents, researches and videos, which were all didactic and I think it was the best way to learn about culture. In addition, we made a poster where I explained my own culture and my classmate also shared more about their culture.

My aha moment was when we were in the first class and the professor asked, what is culture? And I immediately thought about we all are culture because we all have different cultures and by the moment, I thought it, the professor just said, “culture is us”.

The essence of this unit was to know more about culture and how we can define culture in the world because even we all know about culture. We haven’t thought very deep about the real meaning of culture and how culture could influence in your life.

I didn’t know how your lifestyle and culture can influence you as a person, because each one has different beliefs, thoughts, goals and even we all have another way to see the life.

To conclude I think this unit was very important to know each one and each culture in this class. And we all learned about our own culture and that’s the most satisfying thing, because I didn’t think that much deep about my own culture.
